    Opening day

    How did everyone do today?

I heard one a little after 7 this morning. I wasn't even set up yet. So instead of trying to call it in, I decided to try to stalk it, well I stalked it, but he busted me and all the mail...... Hopefully he is still around in the morning, maybe I will be able to get up on time...

That is why it is called hunting and not killing.... I got all next week off, so hopefully I will have some LDP's.

Heard gobbles around 8:00 and got a few responses but no birds came in. We saw a hog coming down the road so my son was off on the stalk. About 20 minutes later he got the shot off and a 150 lb boar was on the ground (bow). He hurried back and within minutes I called in a hen to 8 yards. She was yelping almost continuously. About 10:45 I was finally able to get a gobbler to come in to the setup. Cory drew when the gobbler got to 18 yards and our luck, he was seen. Last we saw, that gobbler was still running.

It was a great day anyway spent with my son. Played golf this evening and Cory shot 67.

Few gobbles. Called in a hen, but I don't think it's prime yet.

Me and a buddy took a young lady hunting this morning....she was done in 10 minutes with a nice 2 year old bird. He worked like a champ and she was one happy girl!

We didn't get to lease until 5:30 pm. Brother made it in from NJ and his buddy landed at 11am from FL.

We went to Cableas first to pick up license and shop, and no matter which direction we went, parking lot traffic.

I did check two TCs and have some young birds, but talk about pigs. I will probably bow hunt pigs all week.

I am heading out to hunt tomorrow west of Johnson City. Guy scouting said they are everywhere and are responding really well to calls. He just plays with them, never shoots any.

My day started with a 2 year old gobbler with my bow on the ground with no blind. Then I found two sheds which to most wouldn't be exciting but I haven't found any in 10 years. I ended the day by smoking a pig with my ultra mag.

Was done in 30 minutes, he flew down and made a bee line to the decoys strutting the whole way-
