    Well...
Japanese ligustrum is out. Bad articles from nurseries begging people to plant something else due to their nature to affect other types of trees and foliage negatively.

Red tips and bamboo are out - many comments on the web that match Dirtymike's post above.

Might go with Wax Myrtle. Still researching that one.

Greatly appreciate all the replies and suggestions. Keep 'em coming.

    All the best,
    Glenn

Yes, but once you have bamboo, you'll always have bamboo, and they will spread into areas that you don't want it in C'Ya

Just a little bit more info on the wax myrtles. They smell good. They are ever green. Grow to fit in the landscape in most sized yards. and best of all........... Indians used them for bug repelant. So yea, they actually help with misquitoes. Dont fight nature. Work with it. If you install a 5 gallon WM you will have your privacy in as little as 1-2 seasons. Dont plant them too close. Get the right species. Buy from a nursery who uses local genetics. It may look too small and spaced out but give it time. Once they get going they will enjoy the space and fill out the area. I have landscaped many many yards and the number one screen i have used that worked everytime is the WM. Especially around pools for privacy. You can trim from the bottom and they make really pretty multi trunk trees like a crape myrtle. Just not all the messy flowering blooms.

I greatly appreciate the information and continued help. I had to chuckle a bit at that claim though! Quite a few years ago, I hunted Sika on Assateague Island in Virginia. Worst mosquito's I've ever been in! The place we hunted was literally covered in Wax Myrtles. I made myself a nice natural blind with one of them, right next to a watering hole. If I wouldn't have had my Thermacell on me, I would have left. It would have been unbearable. Actually, it was probably the best place for a Thermacell commercial. I was getting chewed up pretty bad, and they were thick as a cloud. I lit that Thermacell off and they pulled way back from me - but I could still see the edge of my Thermacell cloud because the mosquito's would hang right outside of it. Worst mosquito's I've ever been in - and that place was nothing but Wax Myrtles.

I have heard that rumor before though - but it was said that you had to crush the leaves and rub them into your skin for it to work as a repellent. The leaves are very fragrant.

I do like the looks of that tree though. I think that may be what I go with. Thanks again for the suggestion!

          All the best,
          Glenn

But I'm not Indian... I'm Cajun. They must like my blood better.

Chinese Tallow. You can come dig all you want. Grow fast, hard to kill(I don't think a single one died from the drought, even after pushing over with tractor).

I wish! HOA won't allow it.
