Advise- N. TX : Generator Systems for "off the grid" ?

Choctaw Electric in SE Okla wants $9000. To run poles and line to get electricity to my travel trailer on my property.

    Have to go 1500 ft.
    Gonna give me 300, so I am paying for 1200ft @ $7.50 a foot.....
    TOTAl: $9000.

    I ain't pay that...... ( when I only go up once a month )

    So-
Anyone hve connection to stand alone generators systems.
    Gas/Deisel/Nat Gas. Etc....

I want to be as quiet as possible...........................

Currently use a 5500/8500 portable generator, but it is loud as crap and want o have less hassle, etc.

    Thanks...

No question about it if you have a source of natural gas already in place that is your best route and with today's cheap prices of natural gas it will be hard to beat .

I think a 25kw would work for you. Diesel would be the most efficient but it is expensive. You can get an enclosed model to help with noise. Do a search with the terms "25 kw gen-set" A caterpillar specific model would be CAT D25-8.

        25kw seems a little big ?
Just a travel trailer and AC will be blowing during the summer...

My 5500/8500 runs it all fine.

Any other ideas on that and or quieting ?

A good quality genny like Honda will be pretty quiet. Im guessing your currently running an off brand and most sound like a cement mixer.

put your genny in a well insulated shed and buy a bigger, longer extension cord and move it further out.

Had about the same distance to my camp as well. It cost me 10k.
But I have no regrets. You do as you want. But my advice.
Spend the money. I have never regretted it.IMHO

We just had power poles run at the ranch in Brackett (3/4 mile) Before that we had a Generac. Electric star houses in a generator building we built. Had fans for temp ventelation. Fed by 20 gallon gas. PITA but it worked for three years before we got tired of jackieng with it.

                  That is my deal...
Just a huge Pain to jack with it.
Would love to be able to just come in and turn the power on and wallah.

                  But -
I feel like I am getting ripped off by $9000.
Then Every month pay $25 a month before I even think about turning any power on....

                  Ugggghhhhh

I am gonna look at some type of generator box to quiet down the noise......

PTO Generator on a diesel tractor would go along way.

                      Yeah
I am just gonna get a small shed, line it, use a fan to pull air through it, and expel the exhaust through a flex hose....

When this generator craps out in a few years I will get a QUIET Honda for sure.
