He needs to grow up. No reason to do what he did. If he wants to put out a message make a nice sign and put it up in your front yard. He shoud have a little courtosy towards his neighbors. I feel bad about his truck, but he isn't the only person whos had something stolen.

If I was trying to sell a house on that street I might feel differently but right now I say it's his house and his business. Who am I to try to tell him what to do. I agree it looks immature and silly but he's not breaking any laws or physically hurting anyone.
