I had the same luck. Heard them everywhere. Had one come in to range for my son. Soon as he drew back, the gobler walked behind a bush and kept going.

Made literally one call with my mouth piece last weekend in Rocksprings and within 5 minutes I had a monster Tom come strutting in and I put him down. I would like to think it was skill, but probably just sheer luck.

Will be hunting the north zone come Saturday.

did last weekend. Had 3 close encounters but nothing in hand. Was so still it was impossible to draw without getting nailed

Yep. Will be taking My Little boy out On Sunday. Went out last week and called twice from his stand and had two toms gobble all the way in and look for a hen and then hit the road running. I have not got any birds strutting this yr yet and got 3 just this week. Looks like they are Fired Up
