    Jug Line Question

I just got 12 of the PVC Jug Lines in. I am wanting to know what is the best way to attach the hooks to the main line to prevent twisting etc.. Please post some pics. Thanks!!

Put a big brass swivel somewhere in between your line and noodle.

I am wanting to get down there. Probably won't get down there until the end of April.

Go big. Use 300-400# mono with sleeves you crimp on and the biggest 3 way swivles you can get. If you are ever driving through Leander give me a call. I'll give you enough to make a couple jug lines and show you where you can buy cheap.

I do the above because you can catch the biggest fish PLUS it eliminates most tangles on your set up.

I use the pre-made snell hooks from Eagle Claw with Nylawire and 6/0 circle hooks. They are stiff enough not to twist. Tie knots above and below a good barrel swivel and loop hook in it. I will post pictures later for you.

Either a 3 way swivel or what I do:

I use pretty heavy braided nylon line. Just tie on a single overhand knot, slide on a barrel swivel, then tie another knot above swivel. Leave about a half inch between knots. This way the swivel can spin around the main line, which is key to avoiding tangles. You have to make sure to size the swivels so that they go ofer the line but the knot is big enough to keep them in place.

I use 400lb test braided nylon for my main line, tie knot, slide big barrel swivel to knot leave 1/2-3/4 inch space then tie knot on other side. Then I use 100 lb test braided nylon (staging) off the swivel to my# 12 circle hook. The staging is about 14-16 in he's long.

I dont use leaders of any kind. I use trot line snaps, heavy swivels and attach the hook to a split ring and that split ring to the other end of the swivel. the trot line snap goes directly on the main line at the depth you want. this allows you to place the snaps anywhere along the line. never had an issue with twisting.
