What would you do in a situation like this?

My brother and I are driving home and I see an old truck on the side of the road and about 100 yards up the road there's an old man walking with a gas can so we decided to give him a ride to town which is about 6 miles away. As I am moving stuff around for him to get in the back of the truck I see a full gas can my dad put in there earlier today so I told him I will give him some gas right now so he can at least make it to town. I didnt ask his name or talk very much with him. I just gave him gas and I was ready to get back on the road. This is a 4 lane hwy. Well he takes off in front of us and about 1 mile down the road we see this guy cross from the far right lane all the way to the far left lane and I am thinking he is about to fly off a hill. He gets it back under control and we are not sure what is going on with this guy. We follow him a few more miles and he hits the ditch on the right side going about 65. We are about 1 mile from our turnoff and we realize he has to be drunk or just one bad driver. I seen him make it to a gas station and thats the last I saw of him. Heres my question. Would you have called the law or not? He didnt seem to be drunk or on anything when I was talking to him. I would have hated to see this guy hit someone head on after I helped get him back on the road. Luckily no vehicles we around at that moment. This was on 183 between Lometa and Goldthwaite today. sorry for long read.

I would have called it in and stayed in the area until they checked him out. As a Safety man I can't help but make sure, would hate to read tomorrows paper showing him in an accident that killed a bunch of folks.

X3... he may have also been losing blood sugar, or some other physical malady.

NOTE: If you didn't smell it on him... he wasn't THAT drunk.

Probably would have offered to drive him home.

Excellent point CW, have seen this happen also. Either way, good folks can die if he loses it, including himself.

I would have called it in. Helping a guy out, by not calling, pales in comparison to that guy injuring someone due to intoxication or a health complication.
