I have a 3Gs that just shut down on it's own and when it restarted the screen doesn't work (as in whatever you touch doesn't work). Suggestions?

try holding the power button and the button at the bottom at the same time. when the screen comes up to power it off just keep holding the buttons. It should reset. dont know if this will fix the problem but thats what they did to fix mine. good luck! hope this helps
