    Custom 257 Roberts AI Build

I am in the process of building a 257 Roberts AI. I want to built it off of a Remington Model 700 Action. I'm thinking I need a short action, but I'm not 100% sure. Midway USA is going to start stocking Model 700 Actions April 30th so I'm thinking about ordering one from them. As far as barrels are concerned I'm undecided. Probably going to go with a McMillan stock. Has anyone done a build similar to this? Let's here the green screens thoughts and suggestions on this build.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

    I've owned several 257 AI's

if you're gonna shoot single shot .... go SA and install a Davidson follower

if you plan on using it as a repeater ... go LA

(all my custom rifles are single shot as I can get off a 2nd rd real quick if needed)

a #5 fluted barrel finished at 22 - 24" is super fine - Barlein, Lilja, Kreiger , will all work

1.5 # Jewell trigger with bottom safety

find an older action and drop the plans for a new 700 from Midway ... the tolerances and QC is much tighter

a McM Hunter stock is flat out awesome

I love it when you talk dirty.

I want to get a Lothar barrel in 260, but their information is a bit daunting. any help in selecting it? R700 SA

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking I want a repeater. Why do you like the single shot so much?

R and m firearms in el campo had a used cooper single shot in .257 roberts that I think you could get in the 1200 range...
