How to acquire a UPIN?
How long does it take?

seems about 1 out of every 3-4 times I purchase a gun, I end up waiting for a day or two with a delay....I know, just go get my chl....soon....was wondering if this upin thing was a quick cure

for those of us that get hung up on the background checks when purchasing a weapon, only to wait 3 days or whatever then have to make the second trip to pick up the weapon, there is a upin number you can get from the feds that distinguishes you from that person with the same or similar name that causes you to get delayed on the background checks when purchasing a firearm...

looks like from what I have read, it is basically the same process as what you have to go through with paperwork and prints like for a chl, just no qualifying on the trigger part...

from what I read recently....it will be just as quick if not quicker to just go the chl route....

It may be the cure but it ain't quick. About 3-6 months.
