    Low water crossing advice

I need some advice for the GS. We have a low water crossing at my parent ls homestead place. Fir years its been the bumpiest ride you can imagine crossing that thing. Its on bedrock but its full of pothole and bumps.

We've never tried to smooth it out or concrete it in because the thinking was that when the water gets high (and it does get high):

When the water gets high we can't cross and that's fine with us cause it doesn't last long and recedes quickly. We just want a smooth ride when we cross it.

Any ideas of the best and most permanent way to smooth this thing out that the next flood wont ruin?

    Thanks for your input.

Too pretty to cement it up. That would be the best and most permanent though.

Just go real fast! Roads are smoother when you go fast!

You should have taken care of it last year when it was dry. You could drill holes in the solid rock and drive rebar piees into the holes, then tie rebar to these and pour concrete on it. The rebar in the holes would keep it in place. It would be hard to do now with wtaer flowing over it though.

It doesn't stay running for long and usually dries up every summer. It is very pretty and I do worry about that. I'm wondering about renting a jackhammer and smoothing it out that way. It would be a ton of work but it would leave the natural look.

I would not cement the whole thing - those huge bedrock formations are awesome - I would go through and fill in the potholes with cement though.

We used gravel from the creek to smooth out after every washing out rain. (after water gaps were fixed) Depends on how much money you want to spend putting concrete (drilling, re-bar, etc) Probably won't stay a long time. Gravel is free and work is work the redneck way.
