A portable depthfinder mount for the kayak....

Ok, I was dying to get a new down imaging unit and put it on the kayak...but I didnt want to run wires through the hull or put goop or glue inside the kayak and wanted a TRUELY portable rig. Hence this was the end product.

Pelican style case with 12v lead acid and a cigarette lighter adapter to charge/power whatever (overkill I know but I figured why not).

Here it is open and you can see the excess wire bundles with velcro and the batter held in place with velcro.

The mount for the yak is just a velcro strap through the scupper...simple ain't it?

No job is complete without something from harbor freight! And for the days the the old jon boat gets taken out.

Everything is truely portable and can go from boat to boat and yak to yak. It works amazingly well. Could even carry it and walk the docks with the transducer on a pvc rod if you wanted to. Anyhow, thought I would share.

      Looks good

Thats cheating, I like it. Only thing is that the mini-x are textured and the suction cup wont stick no matter what you try to do. Didnt want to have to apply grease for it to stick. Didnt want to have to sand a smooth spot either as I wanted to be able to put it on several different mini-x's. This seemed to be the next best alternative. I like your overall setup though...I bet you can cover some serious ground fast with that one.

you can hit the spot for the suction cup with a heat stripper gun and it will smooth out / gloss over

I've run this boat in the Texas Water Safari twice

Impressive. That's a long race. Not for the faint of heart. The minix is about like paddling a molasses barrel down the river. But you can stand and throw a cast net in it.

mini-x is what we call a 1-mile fishin' boat
not farther than a mile from the truck

outstanding for running out baits from the beach

the Safari is 261 miles, non-stop
