Well the good news is my head feels better than my computer does this morning. I have tried a few things and still nothing. I even got a call from DC last night. I am not looking forward to seeing that bill in the mail for the Holiday Service Call.
Hopefully I can get ahold of my computer guy soon.
It doesn't sound like a MB or RAM problem at this point. It is getting display, tries to go into the OS, and fails. XP has its "reboot on blue screen" option turned on automatically and that irritates the heck out of me because you can never see the error on the blue screen!
With you not able to get into f8 this is OS/HDD error (possible bad sectors on HDD). that said, does the HDD make any unusual noises, i.e. clacking or ticking at a steady pace, and not the usual head seek upon turn-on?

DC mentioned something about sectors last night. I have not heard any unusual noises. It seems that my fan has been running longer and more lately. I will try to listen closer.
Try to boot in "safe mode". Other than that, it could be 150 different problems. I've been a Wintel guy my whole life (been designing chips for PCs for 17 years), but I agree with Larry, the best answer is sadly to "get a mac".
