Preference points buy for hunting other states...

Do I have to buy a hunting license to get pref points??

Not looking to draw... just looking for points...

I know all states are different... but this is confusing...

Youcan just buy points. It's as easy as buying a license and cheaper upfront.

That was the state I was looking at... though it did say that 7 days after the draw results... you could just buy points... but when do I know when the results will be posted... and do I have to buy a license to buy points AFTER...

I just get online and pay the fee for the draw. No buying current hunting license yet. You do have to have hunter safety number though. If you are hunting ELK say Colorado you also have a bowhunters ed card if you were born after 1949.

No point system in New Mexico.
Arizona and Utah - Yes - but the deadline has passed.
Colorado - Yes - few weeks left,
Wyoming - no- you can purchase points in july to sep for all big game animals.

Not sure on Nevada, Oregon, or Montana
