You have to have a license to hunt anything in Texas right now. Varmints, pigs, exotics, or native game.

TPWD is already hurting for money why would they pass a regulation allowing any kind of hunting with out the purchase of a license?

I'm lazy and not going to look up chapter and verse, but yes, you need a hunting license to kill pigs. They were reclassified about three years ago from "feral" to "exotic". You need a hunting license to hunt exotics (including pigs) in Texas.

There is an exemption for pigs that are "depravating" but I don't want to have to try and win that arguement with a game warden. Buy a hunting license, follow the rules, and be done with it.

No, if they are doing damage you don not need a license.

The way I see it is anyone who has any intrest in killing hogs is already gonna have a hunting license.

IF you come across them and shoot them under the " damaging or about to damage" clause then yes.............but thats not hunting. If you have damaged property, and you set out a feeder and "hunt" them, then yes you must have a HL.

Also under the "No HL" KILLING of damage causing feral hogs, you must leave them where they lay, no processing

You're telling us that it got "heated" and "the beer was talking", and you want us to "input" about pigs with or without a license?

                          .

                            Back on the subject.

No license needed if hunting on your property and you can prove deprivation. Should be easy.

You can shoot/kill in this situation, but IF you are "hunting" for any sport at all you must have HL.

If it looks like a dozer worked your land over, and you put out corn, and sit in a stand waiting for hogs.......that is hunting and a HL is required.

If you are driving/walking across land and hogs are spotted, you may kill and leave where they lay without a HL.....if damaging or about to damage (they all fall into that category)

so if a dumbarse is on a message board bragging about drinking and riding a hog, what are the odds of people going to band camp over calling said person a dumbarse?
