    Washington DC?

I am going to DC in two weeks for business and will have half a day on a Sunday afternoon for sightseeing. I will have time after 5:00 pm on Monday and Tuesday to goof off as well. Not much time so what is a must see while I am there?

I dig science so any of the Smithsonian exhibts would be on my list. If you want to go tried and true then the Lincoln or Jefferson Memorials or any of the war memorials.

The Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the WWII Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Viet Nam Wall are all basically connected and within easy walking distance from each other. If you want strictly sight seeing and pictures, that is a must stop.

I liked the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. You will see things like the Wright Flyer and as the signs on it say, this is not a model and is the actual airplane that the Wright brothers made their first powered flight in. It is that way with many famous aircraft in the building. You won't see a lot of models but the actual aircraft like Chuck Yeager's Bell X-1 that he broke the sound barrier in.

I would also drive across the river (about a 10 minute drive) and see Arlington National Cemetery and watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You can make all of them in a day and a half easy.

There are way too many things to see in DC but those are fast and in my opinion, don't miss places.

The Tomb of the Unknown.... how could I have left that out? That's a must see right there. Good call.

Been there twice and Arlington National Cemetary is a must, along with the Vietnam Wall Memorial and the Smithsonians are good. I also really enjoyed the Holocaust Musuem.

..... and speaking of the Smithsonian, at the Air and Space Museum in 2010, I spoke to and got to take a picture with one of the original Tuskegee Airmen. I got to speak to a living part of history.

Yep. I lived in the DC area in 1972 and pretty much every time I was in the city, I was in one of the Smithsonian buildings.

Warning to the OP, though. You can spend 8 hours a day every day for a month and still not see all there is to see at the different museums.
With such a short time frame, I'd follow the advice of the others and do the Air/Space museum, all the other sites mentioned, and if you have any time left, re-visit one of the other Smithsonian buildings.

Good place to visit but HE double hockey sticks to get me to live there.

Mt. Vernon, Arlington, Washington Mon. , The Mall, Lincoln and Jefferson.

Metro subway is great way to get around, fast and cheap. It's a little dicey after dark.
