    Truth?, Guardian?, Drenalin?

Greetigns all! New Member here. Love the site & the board; lotsa useful info here!

I'm looking for advice ... I attempted bow hunting a few years ago, bought an Oneida on Ebay, started shooting in my backyard gearing up for deer season, then lost my lease. Consequently, my dear bride kindly "suggested" I sell my bow.

Now, the desire has resurfaced, but with all the new bows on the market, I'm at a loss which one would be best to start over with.

I've read about the Fred Bear Truth, Bowtech Guardian, and the Matthews Drenalin ... anybody have any opinions? I'm gonna stop by the bow shop to (hopefully) try 'em out, but wanted to know if anybody had "field test" experience?

All I really need is a good starter bow that I can take to Granger for hogs, then, next season, deer hunting. Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!

Welcome to the Fire! I would suggest shooting the 3 you have read about. Maybe even add a PSE to the list. I shoot a Drenalin and love it! But everyone has different strokes! Go shoot some and see what feels good. There all good bows! Good luck and welcome again!

I would suggest the new Mathews DXT its got the slimlimb tech like the drenalin but is only 29 inches axle to axle i just bought one for my dad for christmas and he loves it. I personally did not like the drenalin, i shoot the switchback XT and i love it. I shot my dads DXT and it is as smooth as my bow but almost a pund lighter. to me it is the ultimate bowhunting bow!

Shoot all three and see what feels the best to you. When I bought my new bow I shot maybe 5 or 6 different ones. Hands down(For me) the Drenalin felt the best. Check em all out they are all great bows.

Oneida still sells bows if you were into that.

If not, time is on your side since season is ending and the new line-up is either already on the shelves or on the way.

This gives you more to choose from and increases the likelihood of picking up last years latest and greatest at a fraction of new cost. Either from a dealer as new yet last years model, off the used rack or from an individual.

Some people enjoy buying the newest rig every year and sell their previous bow decked out at really great prices.

If you look in the classified section of TBH you'll see 3 top notch bows for sell at ~$600 decked out & $525 bare. Any of those 3 would make your head spin compared to your Oneida.

In fact, if I was shopping new the Allegiance & Synergy would be the two I looked at anyways.

You can get a Truth off of ebay brand new for under 300 I got mine for 285 then 15$ for shipping. It shoots really nice. I was at Bass Pro today someone paid 540 for the same bow

The bow industy in many ways has become like the vehicle industry. It is very hard to stay in business with shi@# products. I agree with everyone else, try and shoot them all and pick the on you like the best.

Personally I shoot a Mathews Switchback and works just fine. Do not plan on shooting any thing else any time soon. Shot my buddies Diamond Black Ice and was extremely surprised at the smoothness and quietness.

I've got to tell you man I've shot just about every bow on the market and I am pretty much stuck on anything that says Mathews on it. To be honest with you though I would probably start with something a little lower end than Mathews or Bow Tech. You're talking about spending somewhere between 900 and 2000 after rigging it out. I would suggest trying maybe a Diamond, Parker, or an Alpine before you jump in shoulder deep. Bow hunting is tough and thats what I love about it! With the quality equipment on the market today its pretty easy to get good fast. But if you're stuck on one of the three you mentioned I would go with the drenalin no doubt! Good luck man and shoot for the lungs!
