What is it with drivers that think they need to block other cars from passing them if there is a lane closure really far ahead?
Twice in the past month I saw drivers driving on the dashed line between lanes swerving from lane to lane to keep people from passing them. In both cases the lanes didn't merge for over a mile and there were no signs yet saying the left lane was ending.
They seem to think that everyone should know about the construction ahead and everyone should abandon all lanes to get to the one that is going through even if you are miles from the lane ending.
The one last night really got me because an idiot hauling a camper swerved around two 18-wheelers and then started to block them both from passing him. We were about 1 mile from the lane ending and there were no signs yet. Finally one 18-wheeler had enough and passed him on the shoulder. The truck swerved, tried to block the 18-wheeler and almost plowed into the back of me.
I don't like people flying up to the point where the lane ends and squeezing in either, especially if there were warning signs, but some people take it too far.
