    Installing Recessed Lights :(

I just installed 38 remodel recessed lights and I must say I would rather wash a cattle trailer out with a water gun than do that again

Now that Im done whats the easiest way to get the clips to pop into place? I ened up going into the attic on every light and bending the tabs and installing a 2"x2" piece of sheetrock under the tabs to get them to hold "Tight" against the celing.

Now tell me the easy way to do it LOL

Pony up for Halo cans, the cheap ones at HD aren't worth a darn.

Using a hole saw to cut perfect holes is one key (you want that tight fit), the other is seating the clip out snug with the tip of your screwdriver.

If you still have questions, you're welcome to PM me.

I used Halo's I purchased from an electrical supply store and he said they were as good as they got and they still sucked The clips were a joke lol

I used my drywall guys electric hold cutter so all the holes were dead on.

How do you seat out a clip? Im being serious here since I may install 4 more and I HATE the attic now LOL

Once the can is up in the hole, and snug; flip the clips out.

Take the end of your flat screwdriver and push up on the upper part of the clip until it clicks.

The can should be snug now. That will force the clip to pinch the sheetrock between the lip of the can and the clip. There should be some tension on the aluminum housing.

I tried that several hundred times before going up in the attic and doing it the cave man way

Every time I got one to clip that way when I went to push the other side out the first one would pop back out

If it was popping back out, then you did not get it pushed in totally. I have installed a dozen or so at my house and the click is hard to get back off.

Maybe you don't Hal half inch Sheetrock you're installing them in. I occasionally run across houses with 3/8 and it will fit lose.

x2.....you'll rub your finger raw trying to seat em with your finger. Use the tip of the screwdriver.

It's 1/2" sheetrock, thought about this as well.
