I have a stock of a gun that I got from my grandad. He passed away about 5 months ago. I believe it is a stock for a browning A Bolt. However I don't know what caliber. The stock is a factory stock but he added the face plate to the butt which is built out of Walnut. My question is, can I buy just the parts to put this rifle together? How can I figure out what caliber I can put together? I really have no clue. Is there Browning A bolt replica actions that I could use? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely looks like a BRN a-bolt
The left side of stock (rear where action sits) has the oval inletting for the bolt release
Measure the inletted area where the magazine box fits to determine long vs. short action
You can build any caliber that is compatible with the action length
Barrel channel will dictate barrel contour
If you wanna build off it , you will need an action, barrel , bottom metal, mag box and follower , etc...
In all my years , I've never seen an Abolt action for sale
You'll likely have to buy a used rifle and drop it in your stock
