    Matthew 12:15-21

God’s Chosen Servant - Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill. He warned them not to tell others about him. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.

Jesus often had to leave as soon as he performed a miracle. He didn't want the kind of attention that would have made him a political figure or king. He didn't want to rule a nation. He wanted to bring hope and salvation to ALL nations. It must have been really hard for him to avoid all the earthly politics. Crowds of people seemed to want him to be king. Pharisees were jealous of him and thought that he was trying to build political power. But he went out of his way to avoid it at every turn.

That helps us see what his true focus was - the spiritual salvation of all nations.
