I've read your post 3 times... still not clear on what you may mean by "multi level Marketing".

I've been in marketing and advertising (two separate/joint facets) for years...

...sales is a whole other affair.

In the trade, "multi-level marketing" has to do with

    * Strategies and schedules for multiple venues
    * Clearly defined incremental marketing plans (across all specified venues -print, media, etc-) for 180 day, 1 year, etc., etc.
    * Contingency plans covering same
    * Strategies and schedules for in-house, external, and potential markets/customers/audience
    * Branding strategies and efforts for each market/audience defined as a target.

    ...sales is a different creature.

It's not about selling its about recruiting. The more you get the more money you make. My wife sells jewelry same kind of system. She likes to have the parties but hates to recruit new people so she breaks even. Is it endless summer if so a friend of the family does it and makes good money as a side job. Good luck

please turn around and the other way. most MLM makes money through the people who sign up to sell and have to buy the "kit" of junk that they will sell.

worse, MLM relies on you not only selling us your friends, but getting us to sell too!

I hate that so much! "Hey, you're my friend so will you buy this junk and oh yeah, will you push it on others too?"

get a real job and don't abuse your friends. you'll have more money AND more friends.

It is a TOUGH gig. I've known several MARY KAY reps (back in the day... 80s) that were making a GOOD living... Having a blast... doing honest, hard work... and their friends loved it (because of the two-pronged fact of the product - AND HOW THESE LADIES CONDUCTED THEIR BUSINESS. Their approach was honest and FUN. Their personalities and way of conducting the 'parties' was a looked forward to SOCIAL EVENT for the ladies of a community).

              I think things have changed.

Know several that have invested in these schemes and lost money. Did know of one couple that was in years ago, always boasted about making big money in it, yet after a few years it was never spoke about again. Never understood how something that made big money just stopped working Perhaps the smoke and mirrors were cleared in time.

Usually the people that make the money in a MLM are the ones on the first level. I have looked at several and it seems they want you to spend a fortune to make it to the best level where you will supposedly make a fortune.

My wife and I have both messed with it a little. I sold electricity thru Stream Energy and my wife did the Mary Kay thing for a little while. We both always just broke even. We have better things to do with what little time we have when not makeing $$ or very little so we got out.

Tried it once, cost a lot of money to become a distributor and had to buy a bunch of product. Couldn't sell it, and there was no way I was going to pressure my friends into getting the same mess I did. Would have lost my friends and my money.
