    Racoon trap

I had a cousin post this pic on Facebook. He works for, and is a guide on a big high fence ranch in south Texas. I have never seen one. He says they are coon catching dudes for people that have a problem with them around feeders. Put feed in the bottom and they stick their paw in there, hit something with it, and they are caught. Anybody on here tried them?

Yeah I've got 16 of them. Work great and ROI is very quick.

They're known as dog-proof traps, designed to work with a coons reach into and grab items. There have been reports of an occasional skunk or grey fox caught in them but not very often. There are several trap manufacturers that offer them. We haven't used them, not enough calls to justify the expense when we have plenty of other predator traps on hand.

Boss buck sells them but not the name. They can be found cheaper elsewhere. Just google "dog proof coon trap".

Lil grizz getters. The smarter the coon the faster they get caught!

This would be correct and they work great.

They sell them at Weakly Watson in Brownwood. They work great, just put a marshmallow in the bottom of them. They will snap a pencil in half so don't put your finger down in there after you set it.

They work. The advantage over a shiny pan set is, you don't need water, you can use these anywhere.

Yep, they work like a charm! I use canned cat food and then either set in the ground near feeders, or wire to the top of the feeders (we own a hog hunting operation so the hogs sometimes root 'em up). What I like about them is that once you set them, you just forget about them until you catch a coon. We've taken out about two dozen coons this past month just from half of our feeders. Our corn usage went down by 50% at those feeders.

The ones we use are the Duke dp traps on the top of this page:

Huntresss, that's a cool pic! From some of the pics of coons on feeders that have been posted on here, they'd need about 6 per feeder. LOL!
