Rookie flight Internet question.

Is the only way to use the gogowhatever Internet on AA to pay a fee? Everything looked good, just never could connect.
I know there are a bunch on here that fly quiet a bit and hope someone can help me out before my return flight.

I know southwests version costs ya.

I'm thinking that's probably the case from looking at the ISP website, but thought it was odd they didn't say that on the flight.
