Found Long Bows, Help with ID.

A coworker found two long bows at a junk barn and picked them up for a good price. Can you guys help with IDing them. One is a hand made with no markings the other came with a case and arrows and has RS Hamilton Custom Archery on the bow and the arrows. We did the google search but not anything good came up. Thanks for the help...........

They look like old o'sage selfbows to me. The darker one is very old.

the way the wood is wavy suggests self bows. the printing on the limb is illegible and not useful. have any camera pics other than a cell phone?

Look like old selfbows to me too but the pics are really hard to tell much.

The one appears to be an old Osage selfbow. The other with the lighter wood is an old Yew wood bow. Be very careful stringing and pulling either one especially the Yew bow. Those things tend to blow up like bombs if the wood is too dry and left sitting for years. Looks to of the late 30's or maybe the 1940's vintage.

ditto others ..... look like self bows to me

wall hangers as I wouldn't have the stones to draw either bow back

Pretty cool finds, but I agree that they appear to be selfbows.

If that darker bow is Osage, then it is VERY old. Nice find!

The darker bow has RS Hamilton wrote on it along the arrows that came with it. The yellowish bow has no markings and dose look self built. Sorry bought the pics. Thanks for the help.

early american bows were flat bows made of osage. until the "invention" of the american long bow.

You may be right about Yew. The other osage. If I stuck a moisture meter in the osage and it was above 7 I would shoot it. I aint scared. The other possible Yew bow Idon't know.Deb is probably right about the teeth rattleing.
