And no one in power wants to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Our political leaders, from the president down to the local level city councilman, view the tax revenue produced from fuel taxes as "FREE MONEY" that they can squander on senseless programs that will secure votes from the non-tax payers in America. This will sound like radical action. But in my simple mind the only way Americans are going to re-gain control of America, is to stop paying taxes, stop payments on your house, car, and any other loans you may have. Then slash our federal congressional delegates salaries and operational budgets by no less than 50%. And if your federal elected offical declines to follow your demand, then vote his butt out of office. Trust me, if all American tax payer did this, Coorporate American would force our governments to start representing their constituants instead of our political leaders own personal interest.
Do you realize that most Representatives and Senators recieve an annual salary of $174,000.00, in addition to additional funds derived from serving on various committees. Plus an avg. of $1,446,009.00 each, to cover their office requirements. Sorry, I'm just a little upset over the current gasoline price here, which has risen to $3.66 today. C'ya
Yes it is!!! People need to realize this. Our tax dollars subsidize our gas prices enough. It's not all about the head honchos fault even though I am not a fan of the guy. (sorry to get political)
That the answer to lowering gas prices is as simple as more fuel efficent Cars
This came for a statement made by the big O late this last week.
I really fail to see how Our gas consumtion is going to affect the world oil market. We are already being told the foreign markets such as China and India are also driving the market. AND we are currently EXPORTING gas to nations where gas is higher.

I highly doubt it that is even a true statement because China, N. Korea, Thailand, these areas are mostly enforced to use bicycle and with India as well...Its hard to believe this because last time I read the article that says we have high dollars per gallon than anywhere in the world. I may be completely wrong but I am pretty sure it is a ploy to play and dumb us down like any other time when something big like this happens.
I would love to have a more fuel efficient truck to choose from when I buy again. You would think that auto makers could make a truck with decent power that gets 35-40 mpg highway.

They can but the EPA shuts them back down though..
Man I hate getting involved in this debate. What would help:
The approval of the Canadian Pipeline
Even thought I'm no fan of subsidies, the current administration is doing away with ethanol corn subsidies, albeit E85 is a farce, there still is a good precentage of ethanol used in gasoline blending.
The true issues is in politicians talking out of both sides of the proverbial neck, one side does everything they can to limit energy companies, while the other side does all it can to profit from the success.
Bottom line is oil and gas SPECULATION sets prices, not the manufacturer, oil, gas and end products shipped to consumers are all victim to market indices. Wall St. wins no matter what, forecasters and speculators set pricing far in advance of real time indicators, and they can adjust on a dime. The market quickly follows the direction they drive in.
