Attn: Plano PD - school zones

Would it be possible to get a strong presences on Alma road between Parker and Cross Bend? Over the last month people just fly right through this school zone. It seems to be getting worse. Just had a young lady given 20% of high five and cuss at me because I was obeying the law.

Be nice to some people getting some tickets over there. Don't just sit in the turn lane to slow them down.

:-). Thanks for allowing me to vent.

i drive through there all the time (no it wasn't me yellin at you haha promise), people pass me left and right and i just wave and say have fun getting a ticket! ha! only seen a cop around there once (and yup he was in the turn lane)...they're busy all over the rest of Plano. I see more po pos in plano than anywhere in Dallas metroplex!

I always enjoy making people mad by driving the speed limit.

I had my kids with me and I see kids using cross walk there but there is no crossing guard. Live game of frogger. With no do overs

Unfortunatley, PISD has a history of going cheap on no crossing guards on busy roads.

This is even more true recently with their "social engineering" of school boundaries - more kids forced to cross busy streets.

It always amazes me when people drive like idiots, risk a fine or worse hurting someone, yet they only get to their destination 2-5 minutes faster (if at all) than if they were to drive the speed limit... Do the math does it make any sense at all?

My girls want to ride their bikes to school, but Alma is way too busy of a street to cross

                    This makes me mad.
I'd call the Plano PD and see what they have to say about this, especially if wellingtontx is right about this point:

And I'd write a letter to the Dallas Morning News, too.
Heck, if it's as bad as you describe, I'd call one of the DFW news channels and have them do some video during school zone times and hope this would shame the city into taking action.
We have enough trouble with cell phone users and texters nearly running over our crossing guards and kids where I live (I talk to two of them every morning on my dog walks)....but at least the police do come out and watch and give tickets (when they can).

I thought about videotaping all the violators and giving it to my city council rep. Heck, stop signs are being optional in my neighborhood. I just got back from the gym and this lady rolled past the stop sign right out into Alma. I had to stop to keep from hitting her. I motioned her to back up and she acted like she was going to back up BUT NO!!!!! She freaking pulled out in front of me and almost hit two other cars and never once turned her head to check. Just kept going forward to make her turn.

I'm so used to driving the speed limit in school zones where there's a four way stop midways. Once motorists stop and then proceed,it's like they all too quickly forget that it's still 20 mph and accelerate on to 40 mph and 50.
Yeah, I too am used to being passed in the school zones. I've never had a speeding ticket, wreck, or any kind of moving violation and have never owned a radar detector. And, I've driven through many areas, including ones in Oklahoma that were penalized by the state for abusing their ticket writing priveledges.
