    Turkeys on Hwy 242

This morning I was on hwy 242 traveling from FM 1314 towards 45. About a half a mile before I get to the San Jacinto river I see 4 large birds ahead in the grass on the north side of the highway.
Fist thought is buzzards but as I get closer I see it's 4 wild turkeys. They were about 50 yards off the highway.
Three of them were bearded hens
I know TPW reintroduced turkeys into east Texas but these are the first ones I have every seen around here and I don't know of any breeders or if it's even legal to raise them.
Have any of you Woodland TBHer's seen them ?

My lease is about 10 miles west of 45 just north of 1488. I swore after a couple hunts in bow season one year that I heard a turkey or two, but everybody at the lease thought I lost my marbles. The next year (2010) a guest spotted 2 at the feeder near where he was hunting. I've yet to see them, but there are a few around.

That would be cool. I saw them on a timber company lease in 2002/2004 in San Jac county.

These were in my backyard last month I am on 1488 behind WG Jones forest. I thought I was seeing things at first they acted like they have been here forever. Never seen them sense but heard them a couple of weeks ago.
