    Ford Mechanic help needed

I recently bought a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT for my daughter and last night I tried to program an additional key fob. When I followed the directions the process worked fine until I had to push the button on the fob. It wouldn't program the fob and it erased the original. I understand that it erases them all and you have to program all of them at the same time. Well it wouldn't let me reprogram any of them until I disconnected the battery and hooked back up. Then it would only let me program 1 fob, didn't matter which one but just one. Yes I hit the button on the second right after doing the 1st. If I tried to reprogram again it wouldn't let me do it until I disconnected the battery and then it would only let me do 1 again.

I also tried to program the keypad on the door by getting the master code off of the security module but it didn't work either.

So could the security module be bad? Can they be replaced? Or is there a fix for it?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Try the programing again with all doors closed and unlocked. Also make sure the new fob is the correct one.
