    Jo Jan multifletcher

Santa bought me a Jo Jan 6 arrow multi-fletcher. I am a first time fletcher so I don't know Jack....I "tested" it out on a few arrows before it was wrapped for under the tree. I adjusted and adjusted but just could not get the fletchings to touch all the way down the shaft on my A/C/C's 3-49's. I have also read that the clamps need to have bow wax on them or tape to keep them from sticking. Do you mark the clamps to make sure you put the fletch in the same. Any tricks of the trade that y'all care to share would be a great help....pictures of how it should be done and adjusted would be great also.

    Thanks

wax the clamps very lightly, and you should be able to adjust the front and back of the clamp to make your vanes have good contact all the way down the shaft. If you are using helical clamps, and blazer vanes, it will take a little more time to get it right. I would definately put a mark on the clamp so the vane is in the same place every time, and you can play with the location til you get it right, then mark it. the best thing about it is if you mess up, you can do it over til you get it right. good luck, and post pix of the finished product.

Mark your clamps and a little Goat Tuff goes a long ways (open the windows).

To help get the foot of the vain to flex around the shaft if using a straight clamp I leave a tiny 1/32" gap between the foot and metal clamp. So if you look at the vain while in the clamp the is a little air gap. This lets the foot kind of flex left to right so it can compensate for the changing angles due to the shaft being round. Clear as mud right?

I am doing right helical vanes. The front of the vane was what was not touching the arrow. I may use wraps this year which hopfully may take up some of the space. Just need to know if there is an adjustment trick or how someone in here has there's set up for A/C/C's. Even if I do say so myself the test ones weren't that bad...well yeah they were....on a scale of 10 they were a 6 maybe a 7....practice makes perfect.

          Thanks for the advice.......

I have been using the Jo-Jan multi-fletcher for several years now. It works great. I dont use string wax I use parafin its cheaper and works just fine.

It does not take hardly any kind of off set or helix to get the shafts spinning. So don't try to over do it, it only slows your arrow down and makes more noise.

ETX- it took me quite a bit of fussing with it to get the fletches to line up perfectly on the shaft, but I agree with bulletpusher that you want to make sure you're not trying to put too much helical on your fletching. Also, I always put one bead of glue on the front of each fletch.
