Anybody know much about this scope? I have a chance to pick one up for $500.

Pretty good price....I have the 3x9x50 and paid 500.00 new. I think the one your looking at is around 700 new. Great clarity and it does really well in low light conditions IMHO....

After reading the other scope thread, will this scope mount with standard 1" rings? I've always had 40 mm scopes. Will the extra 4 mm change the mounts?

i bought a 4-12x56 30mm a couple of years ago for my 300 ultra and it is the best scope i own, you can see well past sundown and the clarity is unreal. zeiss conquedt is awesome

I"m not sure, but I just bought a new scope as well and was told that 40mm was as large as you could go with standard rings.

You will need medium or high rings.
High are the safe bet, but if you want the front of the scope near the barrel mediums might work depending on the taper of the barrel. (or so I've been told)

Buying both & returning the incorrect size, or taking both gun & scope somewhere where they sell rings will make sure you get a proper fit.

Sounds like a great deal on a great scope.
