    Using it for?

Do you need power for gaming or other high end task or are you using the internet, email, documents and watching movies? There are plenty of laptops in the $250-$400 range that will do most common tasks. I have had three $300-$350 Toshiba laptops that have never given me any problems with the oldest being about 5 years old.

For $1,000 you could get a monster but not sure if a monster is needed for what you are looking for.

I have an Asus laptop with an I-5 processor. It does all I need, but it has an integrated video processor so not the best for games.

That is the point. There are good laptops out there that don't cost and arm and a leg. For most people, anything more is just wasting money.

For the people that need the power then they have to pay for it but otherwise, it is like having a 200hp bay boat in a small bayou so you can perch fish 50 feet from the ramp.

Sorry guys, I started this thread when I was falling asleep and forgot about it until just now.
              New question.
This is more for my wife.
She'll be using it for the following:
              Bill pay
              Surfing web
              Music
              Movies
              Pictures (editing)
              Videos (editing) <----me
              Some gaming
She just wants it to be fast.
The one we have works it's just old and something is wrong with it to where you can't open different pages at one time.

She is now wondering if we should keep the one we have and get an iPad and work off it... I don't know how to answer that.
She is a big fan of her iPhone and wants everything to work like that...
              Any suggestions?

save up mac....dont depart your name......MAC

To go back to PC would be a big error in judgment. Maybe check refurbished Macs at Macstore on apple.com

                  good luck!!

I have a $500 Acer and it does everything I need it to do including photo/video editing, minor game play, and web surfing.

If you do not need the extra bells and whistles why pay for em.....

PLUS if it gets lost or stolen, I am out $500 not a grand or better.

Pretty much any new laptop will do what 90% of people need them to do and then some. At the price point they are, they are all pretty much disposable now a days.

I just bought a pimped out MacBook pro but in reality an Air probably would have done everything I need it to do.

Same here. We bought the Acer Wally World had on sale for $498 online the weekend after Thanksgiving. It has an I-5 processor and 17" screen and all kinds of other features. So far we love it.

I bought my wife an Acer from BestBuy for all those same uses and she loves it. Zero problems in 2 years. I use it sometimes for website building too... I think it was around $400.
