      Present! Finally gave in and had microdiscectomy surgery 3 years ago. It was pretty bad before that. Now I'm back to doing stupid stuff like flag football. Still have manageable pain but I can play through it.

        Find out what is causing the problem. I had surgery three years ago on L4 L5. I rehabbed like crazy. Lost weight (20lbs) used a foam roller to work out knots in both legs and stretched. I feel great. Lot of pool rehab as well. I would definitely recommend surgery if needed but you have to rehab correctly and do exactly what the doctor tells you.
