I hooked my dad up on an oryx hunt on a ranch in Dripping Springs, TX. Got the contact info from someone on TBH. He's down there right now, but found out that the recent heavy rains washed away a section of fence and 30+ oryx escaped to the neighboring 30K acre ranch. His guide said he saw a 42"+ oryx still on their ranch, so that's the one they are going after. My mom is with him and keeping me updated every hour or so. (Dad is 71 and my mom is 68.) Sounds like they are having a blast!
The ranch has cancelled all other oryx hunts going forward, so dad will be the last hunter out here. They will try again in the morning for the trophy oryx, but said if they don't connect, that dad can take 2 oryx w/ broke horns off one of their other ranches.
Here's my question - Can a taxidermist take a good horn off one oryx and replace the broken horn of the other oryx with it? I usually use Harwell or Dooley in the Rockwall/Rowlett area.
Hopefully LDPs will be coming shortly!
