I have only been on a true turkey hunt a few times, and its always been with a shotgun. It was actually more fun than i thought it was going to be, and when you hit that call and they come running in to the decoy its wild. This year i want to do it with my bow instead of a gun. When i hunted with a gun i just camoed out, and walked around and tried spots until i could get one to call back and then i sat up next to a tree and tried to call it in. The ranch has turkeys everywhere. I have a feeling it might be different hunting with a bow. So i was wondering how yall setup, what broadheads to use, etc. If you have any pointers, please share.

I have been planning this out for a couple of years now too. It seems a pop up blind is pretty critical to conceal the drawing movement.
Read an article in TF&G by Lou Marullo that explained that mechanical heads were superior to fixed blades on turkey because they expend more energy at contact.
Personally I will be using these http://hartcraftxchange.com/PRODUCTS/imag008A.html

In our part of the country we are covered in youpons, we find a big live oak that is covered with youpons under neath. We will cut the youpons at the ground and clear a spot about 6ft long and 6 ft back. We then set up our chairs against the back of the opening. Then using the youpons we previously cut we stab them in the ground in front of us and trim them down to where we can shoot over them. Its tricky with a bow but its possible. Move slow . If a turkey sees the whites of your eyes your busted. We Camo up so good that last year we had 3 jakes walk into our hole looking for the hen (me) .im serious I could've grabbed ones neck. Pm me for info if this confuses you.

Popups are good only when you've scouted them or have time to set up.
In turkey hunting, though, especially later in the morning, gobbles can come at any time and where you least expect it. Then you must move in order to cut the distance.
I'd have numerous brush blinds already setup in likely spots, therefore when walking and calling, you can have a setup nearby...just throw the decoys out and ease in....

good thought on the oaks, but that only works in some parts of the states. Hard to hunt that way out in west texas with only mesquite trees.
