I was up at my uncle's place this weekend, and things weren't going our way. Friday his neighbors had the generators and compressors cranked up and were framing a house. Saturday the front blew in with a fury, and the full moon didn't help either. It dropped to 26 last night, and we weren't quite prepared for it to get that cold. This morning we relunctantly got up to go spring the hog trap before leaving. My uncle and I were both done hunting; it was ****ed cold, and nothing had been moving. Still, I brought my rifle for the short walk to the trap, knowing that it would be just my **** luck that a deer or hog would show up if I decided to leave my gun at the shed.
Well, dumb luck has a way of surprising you sometimes. A 7-point buck was standing right in the middle of the path about 50-60yds out, and I shot him without hesitating. He ran about 75 yards and died about 20 feet from where the deer I shot last year died.
Just goes to show that even when you "know" things aren't going your way, its worth being prepared in case luck throws you a bone.
Hope y'all have a great Christmas, and a safe last week of hunting.
