We drove PCH north to south in the 90’s. I agree, south to north would be the better route.

I’ve done that drive as well and can’t think of a better one.

Oh, and Woodville to see Curt.
My daughter wanted to go to Montana forever. She did reports in School on it. We finally did. and man she was right. It is beautiful. We flew into Bozeman. Drove down to Yellowstone. Then drove up the west side all the way up to Glacier. We spent 9 days there. We could have done a month.

We hiked, we swam, we just took it all in. It was amazing. If you do it. Go to Hungry Horse Reservoir. Rent a boat out of Hungry Horse. They will drop it off on the lake. We spent a day just cruising the lake and swimming.

If you do Going to the Sun Road. I would suggest that you do it like we did. We drove up the East side all the way to the East Exit. And drove down the road. Opposite of the the normal flow of traffic. We saw tons of game and sights and had no traffic.

We also did family pictures inside Glacier National Park.

Grand Canyon is a site to see, but the North Rim is prettier. Longer drive to get around to that side but well worth the trip.

Glacier NP is stunning and to be able to stand at Logan Pass and take in the view is amazing. However, make the short trip from there up into the Canadian side and visit Banff Nation Park. Same mountain range, but a different site to see. The glacier-fed lakes there are amazing. So clear you can see almost 20’ down!

My sister is currently at Angle’s Landing in Utah. Based on her pictures, that’s another place with an amazing view that should be a stop to add.

Edit: I'd also add two museums that I consider a "must see".

First the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. This is the memorial museum for the OKC bombing at the Federal building. The inside of the museum is well laid out and has a ton of exhibits and explains a lot. The outdoor area with the Reflecting Pool and Field of Empty Chairs is very somber, but a great tribute. For as much as most people don't even remember that event in history, it's something to see.

Second would be the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. This place is huge! It covers 6 buildings, and you can buy 2-day tickets; because you need two days to cover it all! The exhibits in this place are outstanding with artifacts and memorabilia that will amaze you. However, be prepared for your emotions go full tilt in some areas when reading/listening/viewing the history of it all. My wife and I flat-out cried horribly at the end of the Holocaust exhibit! I just couldn't hold it back. We still need to go back and finish the museum since we were only there for a day (just over 6 hrs).

Just spent the last week in the PNW. I’ve been to Glacier, YNP, Tetons, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley, Kings Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Badlands, Teddy Roosevelt, Mesa Verde, RMNP, Black Canyon, Big Bend, Carlsbad, White Sands, Wind Cave, and probably a couple more I’m missing before this week. We hit Noth Cascades and Olympic National Parks this week. I was very eager to hit Cascades, and didn’t have much desire for Olympic besides to check it off the list. To date Glacier has been my favorite, but Olympic was a VERY nice surprise. It may have surpassed Glacier as my favorite. I’d like to spend a few more days out there to say for sure, but it’s definitely top 2 if not my favorite park to date. However it’s hard to go wrong with Montana especially on the western side. I spend every chance I get up there.

Bucket list things to do with you kids?

#1 buy a great camera (360x5 or gopro) then....

Alaska... take a day cruise off the Kenai. You have to hear the ice crack and watch large chunks fall into the sea. North of Seward, moose droppings everywhere and them just wondering around where they please. Seeing the bears grab salmon in Valdez or the Russian river.

California redwoods. The trees are enormous and they will make you feel like you're in the land of the lost

Grab some breakfast at Kens Pancake house on the Big island Hawaii. While you are there on the island swim with the manta rays, visit the volcano, go up the summit and watch a sunset, and walk the black sand beach of Waipiʻo Valley.

Finally the Ark in Kentucky. Get there early because it's gonna take all day.

I came here to say this too. Crater lake is an amazing site. It's a color blue I've never seen in nature anywhere else. Having said that, about 30 minutes after seeing it, I looked at the wife and said, "ok, where to now"? It's cool and and I'm absolutely glad we went to see it, but I'm not much for hiking, so for me, there's wasn't much to do there once you've seen the lake.

We flew into Portland Maine last fall. Rented a car and spent a couple of days driving through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Made our way down to Boston and speant a couple of days there. Feel like we could have spent a few more days there. Then on to Salem for a night and a night in Mystic MA. It was one of our better trips. So much to see and do.

For me I would say Yosemite, it’s a cathedral….incredibly beautiful, most beautiful place I had ever been. Sequoia Nation Park, I got emotional standing in trees. Very humbling experience! The whole Sierra Nevada mountain range is incredible.
