This is where I'm at. I'm still seeing price increases in the grocery store. There was a 30% jump at covid that never went back to normal and continual increases since and not this 3% crap the government keeps spewing.

Short term pain for long term gain.

I blame a lot of the China trade imbalance on Walmart. When Walmart started getting huge, to keep the prices where they dominated they turned to Chinese manufacturers of goods.

How does a charge, which just passes right to the US consumer punish anyone but us? I would really like it explained to me, I'm not being argumentative.
Yes, but it won't be painless or it would have happened a long time ago. YOU and some others may pay the higher tariff prices, but it will not amount to the same level as China is currently getting. You may still buy, but others will simply forego. Also, where you may have bought 2 or 3 of something, you may now only buy 1. Remember, that 30% is not going to China. The Chinese will still only get the $170, not the $220. The $50 tariff stays here. . But, like I said, where you may have bought 2 previously, you may now only buy 1, or not at all. That decreases the amount of money the Chinese get. This is multiplied exponentially and will have a major impact on their economy. They are extremely dependent on selling cheap goods in the US. The pain we will feel from these tariffs are nothing compared to the pain China will feel.

The US economy, tariffs, and the import/export business is VERY COMPLEX, much more than I can wrap my head around.

I’ll stir the pot, I think most people just preach what they hear on their news channel of choice. How many folks really understand the impact of these tariff's on the US economy?
Yea and it can get complicated and manipulative. Years ago I was traveling thru the Plains and there were bails of cotton along side the road. Spray painted on one was “ God is good but the cotton buyer sucks!” I did some research and it seems at the time China had stockpiled Cotton for years and had the ability to dump cotton on the market and hurt the American growers at will.

Cause people are still buying them at the inflated price. Why would you drop your price if your sales aren’t dropping?

Wait, didn't Academy get the memo the tarrifs are paused for 90 days? Lol...
Personally I'm sure there's a lot of legitimate rising prices, but I also think retailers and wholesalers and distributors are using this whole thing as an excuse to hike stuff up and increase profit margins as well. We'll see how it plays out, twas a necessary move and we'll have some growing pains I'm sure. Good time to buy Made in USA gear.

Blank China, they are going to need us to buy their junk. It's just a matter of time before they fully knuckle under.

I've never seen so many people just buy stuff without even asking what the price is. Some stores don't even put prices on items anymore.

To make it worse when I ask what something costs they act like your stupid for asking, just buy it.

But inflation is because of tariffs
