    Tariffs are getting real

Hard times are on the way ladies and gentlemen.
COGS is rising 30% for at least 90 days. The supply chain email influx has started. Vendors raising prices of goods in transit.

A good example everyone can relate to: go to Academy sports and just look at clothing price tags. They are marking items up when they hit the store with manual stickers. Looking at BCG shirts, original printed tag showed $12.99, Academy manual markup was $17.99.

This all will be rolled into product and pushed to consumer. China sourced products are going up, but will still be less than American supplied products. Not much will change other than broke people getting broker.

So are you of the opinion that we should've just kept the status quo and let the CCP continue to take advantage of the US and have the US be dependent upon the CCP?
At some point the US has to do something about the situation. There is obviously going to be some temporary market corrections. If you can't go 90 days without buying Chinese **** I don't really know what to tell you, other than, maybe you're a part of the problem.

EDIT: but then again I also don't consider bottom of the barrel workout wear I wouldn't buy anyway being 20% more expensive as "tariffs getting real" lol.

If it “gets real” then Trump has done his job. We are the most spoiled country on the planet (me included). Our grandparents and parents truly knew what hard times were, even I did as a child and young man. I didn’t know what indoor plumbing was until nearly ten years old. We had cold water in the house, but if you wanted hot water you heated on the stove. I didn’t realize we were poor until I started school, but my mother and father were around for the Great Depression so they knew what getting real was all about, and it ain’t about what clothes cost at Academy.

Bought a bunch of new shirts at Academy a day or so ago and they were all normally priced.

I don't have the answer. All I know is that when you don't make much money to begin with, 20% hike on a shirt that fits within your budget is a good hit. Not to mention everything else in your price range increasing.

Part of the problem? Come on.

Congratulations on being above middle class and being able to afford Under Armour, wait, foreign Nike, wait forein, Adidas, wait. You get the picture.

I'm all ears on affordable American made products. Please supply links.

"Getting real" now is a joke. If we even get 25% real most will go crazy.

We all should have listened to Ross Perot. Remember he said "A giant sucking sound" of manufacturing jobs would disappear. Our chickens are coming home to roost. Trump is just ripping the band aid off. Go trump go I say.

I am willing to pay more for American sourced products.

eventually things will settle down…i can go a few years just getting necessary stuff and can do without Academy.

Will this really right the ship... take a set of Icon wrenches at $170. Comparable US quality would be Snap on at $500+. I, and most folks, are just paying the $220. How does a charge, which just passes right to the US consumer punish anyone but us? I would really like it explained to me, I'm not being argumentative.
