TAMU Engineering Student - seeking Oil &Gas summer work

    Howdy TBH,

My name is Gage, and I'm a Petroleum Engineering student at Texas A&M set to graduate next Spring.

Ideally, I'm looking for a summer petroleum engineering internship, but I would consider any experience in the oil field.

Work history includes 2 prior summer internships with a civil engineering firm before switching majors. I also run my own landscaping business, and I have experience waiting tables and helping to manage a batting cage.

Since I was old enough to work, I have simultaneously held a job, been a student, and a student-athlete - excelling in all three.

My linkedin profile is attached. Please reach out any time here or there.

    Thanks!

Try Phillips 66 or Chevron Phillips

I can't help you as I'm not in that field.

I just wanted to mention I appreciate your maturity and confidence in posting up your request yourself.

All I have seen so far have been Dads posting up requests for their adult children. I can only wonder how coddled and immature these "kids" are and why they aren't asking for themselves. That alone would be a warning flag.

      Good luck!

First to the OP good luck and you do sound like fine outstanding young man!

Next to Yannister, dont paint with such a broad brush and call all TBH members who post for there kids, coddled and immature. So a dad who is TBH member and his daughter or son isn't, can't reach out to community of 80,000 plus members to see if someone is looking for help in the career there kids just graduated college from? Maybe the kid or young adult has posted themselves on multiple platforms but this was just another way to get there resume out. I totally disagree with your statement.

Spot on, and exactly what I was going to chime in with.

A parent that's a member of this board knows what it is and what takes place here. Their child might not be inclined to use it for such reason because they haven't experienced it and therefor don't grasp what all is discussed.

So did y'all's kids find a job yet?

Haha I joke. Even if the kiddo posted under the dad's handle it would be better.

I don't like coworkers selling crap for their kids fundraisers either. Supposed to be teaching independence and hard work and all that stuff. Nope, mommy and daddy will do the work for them and little Johnny can get a prize if the parent's are popular/shameless enough

It's a little late to find a summer internship, but I wish you luck. Have you tried to do a COOP for a semester? I call on Chemical plants and I'd recommend Lyondell, Exxon and CP Chem (Chevron Phillips) probably in that order.

Matter of fact, yeah, my 21 year old daughter has. She decided after 3 semesters in college that just wasn’t for her.

She’s a CAD tech right now involved in the land surveying side of it, going off only some of the entry level things I showed her, but she’s definitely got the first parts of it figured out.

My 17 year old is still in high school, but doing very good with welding.

CPChem does not hire any petroleum engineers. They don’t have any oil field operations.

This is refreshing to see the actual person seeking a position. Usually it's the kids parents doing all the leg work. Good job!! Wish you well!
