    Tip for Tree Removal

Do you normally tip for tree removal service? If so, how much? Never had this done before and not sure of the etiquette.

Three times I've written a check for Tree Removal, they have never included a tip.

I've had multiple rounds of tree removal the past 5 years- maybe the most unsatisfactory way to spend a lot of money! I hate removing trees. I have never tipped for this service- they are expensive enough.

I had ~$1500 worth of tree service done recently. Guy sent a 4 man crew out and they worked 8 hrs. I tipped the crew a $100. With the job they did I feel like I should have done more but that was all the cash I had on me.

I remove/trim trees as a second job and do not expect a tip.

I own a tree service and feel as though I am very fairly priced. It does cost a lot of money, but running a business that’s only behind Alaska Crab Fishermen in risks according to insurance actuaries is very expensive……and full of extreme risks.

I have received tips from customers but I always give it directly to my crew and have them split it between them.

A tip is a gesture, not a requirement. If you feel as though the service exceeded your expectations and may have even been “entertained” by the work (I can’t tell you how many customers and their kids Love to watch our work, from a safe distance, especially when the chipper starts) give the crew a tip. Heck, most people have no idea how to safely and properly remove or prune trees; if you’re having it done, they may have just saved you a lot more than what they’re charging 👍

              No tips !
If they do a great job, give the boys a cold Dr Pepper.
They charge enough already. Everyone wants tips.
What if your Dr asked for a tip ?

I feel the tipping culture is out of hand. Everyone including regular cashiers have a cup out!

that said- some services I think warrant a little. For example annually around Christmas I like to give the trash guys, and lawn guy, and teachers etc gift cards.

I’ve bought pizza for crews doing extended jobs on the house like roofers and tile guys.

for trees… I haven’t before but you got me thinking

I have never tipped a tree crew. However, I do make sure they have plenty of Gatorade, etc

I would if they were very professional and cleaned everything up with pride in their work - also very respectful.

this kind I will Not tip- yesterday

I have never tipped a tree crew cash nor have I ever felt pressured to do so. There's been a few times in hot summar months that I purchased a case or two of Topo Chico, gatorade, etc. Frankly, it's never been insinuated that I should tip, not even by a crew chief or owner. In this case, I'm being charged an amount for the specific service and clean up and hauling off is part of the service.

I recently read an article on the history of tipping that someone from the University of Houston wrote. It's very interesting and has given me permission to let go of typing guilt.

Do a Google search for "university of Houston tipping". I'm sure it will come up first in the search.

No……I can’t believe we have gotten to where people feel guilty about not leaving everyone and their dog a tip. I only tip 15% for excellent service at restaurants and no where else. Never felt guilty either.

                            No

I do offer them cold drinks though (water, soft drinks, Gatorade, etc)

If they did an exceptional job I’d give them a tip. I don’t feel obligated but do tip hard working people who do a great job.
