What to do with Turkey beards?

Found two turkey beards today that was falling apart that I had sitting on my computer table. What can I do to keep them together? This is the first for me and would like this to be the last. I've lost 2 very good beards today. Thanks

Don't think you can do anything with them now. I always soak my beards in Salt Water for several days. Then let dry. Haven't had any problem with any mites getting into them yet.

I freeze mine until they are ready to mount like Smart does.

The ones I don't do anything with usually go into a box but for some reason I just left them out. They had been out for a few years.

I dab em in borax soap and let sit for a few days. Haven't had any problems.
