Looking back, he announced 5 years ago about his diagnosis of ALS, which must be a miserable way to go. My grandfather passed away due to ALS when he was only 53.

My birth donor father, a moonlighting sportswriter for the local Podunk paper, actually interviewed McMichael in the mid 90's after he retired. My birth donor said McMichael was as solid as they come when it comes interviewees and more than accommodating. I have the article crammed inside a banker's box somewhere in the attic. If i come across I will post it.

ALS is a terrible disease to watch someone battle. My grandfather lived 4 yrs in the mid 90s suffering from ALS. Prayer to his family, friends and fans.

RIP uncle Steve. Him and my dad and uncle grew up together in Freer. Back when the Buckaroos were something different. What a terrible disease. Can’t believe it’s 2025 and we haven’t figured out how to cure that **** and cancer. He was one of the greats. Marks the 3rd friend dad has lost this week

I met him at Bee County where I was playing back in the day. He came down cuz he was dating one of our ball girls from Karnes City. Big ole boy. RIP
