I had a G3 1860 tunnel that was a tough boat and well-built, but that thing would beat the living crap out you. It had the sponsons and hydraulic jack plate. It would run skinny as heck as long as you didn't have to turn. If that happened the boat would cavitate and blow out and for being a aluminum flat bottom hole shot was horrible even after changing props. I have seen some with the extended transom mounts placing the motor a little further out and they seemed to run a lot better. My first boat was a Lowe, and it was super flimsy and leaked like a stuck pig. Not a fan of riveted boats. My next boat will be a Boatright. Those things are work horses. H&B If that thing had anything but a Mercury on it that would be sold.

That's the great thing about a 30 year old Boatright, slap a new engine on it and roll out. You get the hill you want and a brand new engine with warranty.

I bet that old G3 would've done well with a good prop. I had a custom from TR Machining done and my Boatright identified as a jetsprint boat now. It had a custom prop on it when I bought it but it was nothing like it is now.

You would know. Crossing the bay to get to your place can be sporty. I rode in boswells a couple years ago and I'll admit, was throughly impressed in that thing. I can't imagine it now that's it's repowered

Id love to have them build me a 15x50 tiller boat with a poling platform, cat walks and a 4 foot deck to run a 50 on

I've only turned it into a diving crank bait once but I've had it out in some flat irresponsible seas. I'm a slow learner but I'm more careful now. This year with the new prop I'm kinda blown away at the handling it has, we go through the bridge cut to Pringle all winter long and gotta stay on plane through those curves.

Yeah that'd be a slick rig. My old Alumacraft had a poling platform on it and I loved it for hanging decoys and bows from it but I didn't have a push pole so never got to use it properly.

              .
That’s what I just finished doing. I promise more people will think it’s fresh from the showroom than believe it is 23 years old!

Lol hell yeah! That's the way to do it. I'm gonna tell mine one of these days that I have carpel tunnel and can't fillet fish or bait hooks.
