Academy question

Why can't they tell you when they expect to get in orders?!?! Went to buy a new pistol today and they were sold out! So I asked when they expected to get more and of course the guy said " I don't know" of course! So can anyone at academy tell me when they get new orders??

They get shipments a few times a week, but aparently they just get whatever is sent to them. The people working at the store have no control over what they get in.

Because its a chain and like Target and Wally world they never know what will be shipped . Corporate headquarters does the ordering and sending is what I have been told from employees from those stores

they dont order them....there purchasing agent does im sure....besides, the guys behind the counter arent the brightest folks....dont know much about what they are selling....i helped several people after the guy behind the counter tried and failed miserably....but im not saying they are all dumb....

Guess it depends on who you are talking to and how much they care to help you.

I know when i was shopping for pistols a few weeks ago they were able to look up the next shipment coming in and how many they had on that order.

Now if they didnt have any on order then they could not give me and exact date of when they would have some. Just a guess.

Id say ask for a manager next time.

id go up there if it is close....

and just because there is a manager doesnt mean he is smart either....manager here told my brother he didnt have time for him....i had to walk away or i was coming over the counter....

cant judge a book by its cover....you dont know how much money a person has, regardless of age or look....smart businessman knows that....

They have buyers that decide what each store is going to carry based on their sales percentage. So to the guys credit he doesn't know when or what is coming in the next order.

It's about an hour away and completely packed full of people. I guess everyone is getting tax returns and going to town. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Maybe it's just me, but if I wanted knowledge about firearms, I just wouldn't go to Academy or a big box store in general.

And while a few retail employees may not be the brightest folks, cut them a little slack. You can't possibly expect them to know the ends and outs of all products in those stores. For all you know, the guy behind the counter may generally work in a different department and had to fill in over there for a day.
