Any experience with GM 6.0 liter gas engine

I'm looking at a used chevy crew cab 4x4 with 100K miles and the 6.0 liter gas V8. Does anyone know of any reliability issues with this engine? I see a lot of them on the used truck market with 170 - 250K miles but you never know if those have been rebuilt or what.

I have one and love the thing. Had an engine over haul at about 300,000 miles on it. Now it has 400,000 on it and still runs great.

They are gas guzzlers but they will pull almost anything. But that being said they'll go 250+

Had an 06 with 143,000 miles on it when I totaled it last year. Never had an issue with it, other than it sucks gas. When I can afford one again, that's my next truck.

My 1st 6.0 I traded off at 230,000, ran great just time to rotate trucks.
Current 6.0 has 155,000 and going stong. BOTH trucks carried 1,400# of weight 24/7.
Gas mileage runs about 12.8- 13.2 loaded.

Had a '02 3/4 Ton 4x4. It ahd about 200K on it when I sold it and no problems with the engine at all. Tranny, not so much. It had been replaced under warranty with a brand new on at abouy 60,000 miles and then that one had to be rebuilt at about 145,000.

Gas mileage averaged about 11 MPG.

Had a 2003 single cab long bed 2500hd with the 6.0....
Got rid of it at 187000 miles, with no major problems. Truck pulled a trailer that weighed approximately 5000 lbs daily in city traffic(lots of stop and go) and nothing more than carrier bearing and front end components had to be replaced. Overall, very impressed with the GM 6.0
                            Good luck

Had 2 bad coil packs at 30k miles. Other than that and the amount of gas it loves to go through, it's been a reliable, powerful beast that I couldn't ask much more from.
