Just had a 40x50 shop built and want an epoxy floor with the chips and clear top coat, that being said someone told me that if there was no vapor barrier put down the epoxy would lift no matter how much grinding and prep is done. I know snowflake killa had told me sometime back to use a quality product not the big box store kits. any input before go forward

Contact LS Concrete Coatings. They can definitely answer all your questions and they product actually soaks into the concrete and grabs ahold they don't need a vapor barrier if there is no moisture issues. I use to apply these Coatings for them and people loved the results. There is also a grit they can add to the coating to make it non slip.

The slab in my garage didn't have a vapor barrier. I used Devoe Products and the results turned out great. Don't even bother with something you find at Lowes or HD. Devoe makes a penetrating floor sealer that you apply prior to putting epoxy down. My floor has been down for 10 years with no issues. Sherwin Williams also makes an industrial epoxy coating that might work well for you, but I'm not sure if they make a sealer.
