Why is it that every time a husband says huh the wife repeats it more softly?

I have 2 friends that I worked with when we were younger. Both have hearing aids, and I still hear fine other than the ringing in their ears from Tinnitus.

Note to self: Never shoot a .357 magnum out of a truck cab at rabbits when you are young or shoot across the bed of a pickup truck without hearing protection.

Someone told me my hearing aids have batteries. And have to be changed out every once in a while. I'm still waiting to hear back from them.

It is "What?" around our house--but the same applies.
