The DPMS 6.5 creedmoors have some excellent reviews and some fantastic accuracy.

Mike D prefers the 260 where as I prefer the 6.5 Creedmoor. I will concede though that the 260 has been around longer and will be here long after the 6.5 creedmoor.Neithe one will do anything the other wont

+1 vote for .308. RRA or DPMS for your $ range.

Boils down to personal preference. I am a big fan of the 260 but a 308 is hard to beat for versatility. Its been around a long time and will continue to be around and for good reason.

          I do own both calibers.

I have been thinkg of different calibers in the ar platform as well. And i think I'm going to go with the 308 because of wost comes to worst and you need ammo on the middle of no where and its 1 or 2 on the morning you van always go to Walmart and buy it 24 hours a day. I guess I'm think of this because I have had this happen to me with my .338 win mag. My 2 cents

I really like the 260.but I. Do reload and already have 30cal Set ups. What about 7.62 NATO? I know u can shoot 308 out of but how is the accuracy?

Actually 7.62 is the opposite of 5.56. It's not recommended to shoot modern .308 Win ammo in the 7.63 x 51 NATO chamber. The .308 runs higher pressures.

In the older rifles you are correct. The new 7.62 are built to handle the higher CUP of the .308

Look at magazine compatibility and availability for each platform. The fal mags arent as reliable as the ones used on the dpms platform. Caliber is strictly personal preference. Even though the dmps ar15 isnt that good of a quality, their ar308 gets really good reviews.

What part of the Dpms is not quality? My friend has the mark 12 and it is a very well built gun. I'm now considering having one built or just building one myself.

Unless that change is very recent (in the last 90 days or so) that is not the case with DPMS.

Like Tommy said, the DPMS 308 platform rifles are pretty decent. Their 5.56 rifles are just mediocre.
