Turkey hunters looking for a weekend hunt.

Last year someone mentioned maybe starting a thread for those who have access to turkeys, but don't necessarily care much about turkey hunting, to help those who do...find some thunder chickens....especially for kids!

I thought it was an interesting idea, and I think it's at least worth exploring. If it's a dud, it's a dud, but let's see what comes of it.

    Maybe some things to mention...

    How many people kids/adults..

    Location you're looking for.

    Bow/shotgun.

Guided, semi, or just access with some guidance. Maybe accommodations.

    Pigs and varmints included.

Budget, or maybe just a few bags of corn and some drinks of choice for the host.

Not sure where this will go, but let's try it.

Kid is grown but wife loves to chase big birds with feathers. Method of killing don't matter, guide not needed per say just general area to go. Budget, hunt/ fishing trip trades, feed, beer etc. Yes, I'll be there

I have some buddies with 400 acres in SE Coleman county with a live creek cutting it in hal, with huge oaks. They were covered up in turkeys this fall, and it's a perfect place for 1-2 guys. I'll reach out to them and be in touch.

I would be down for something my 7 y/o could tag along on. I figure a turkey hunt would be a good intro into hunting. Also have a place near DFW with plenty of pigs if anyone happens to want to trade something.

My kids are all adults, so it's just me. I hunted last year with a tbhr ( and will again this year) for a weekend hunt, but would love a season lease somewhere. Can just be turkey only, but would also be open to all year with the exception of deer season ( like dove, pigs, quail ). Don't need lodging or even power.

Dang, we always looking for turkey land.

                2 adults(used loosely).

                Don't need a guide.

Would be all about providing a little corn and libations for host. Prolly a steak or two as well.

Great idea! I have to say, I'm surprised that TYHP doesn't have any turkey hunts scheduled.

Thanks for starting this Dale. miket hunted with me last year and is coming up again this year along with a couple of others. Here is his thread looking for others to join him with details.

I am looking for 2 more hunters for a turkey hunt. Brown county. It is unguided, but the owner does drive you out to your hunting area. ( for liability reasons ). Family ranch, 1100ac. I hunted with them last year and had a great time, blew multiple chances with the bow, then killed a big one with a shotgun. ( could have

Given I only want 3 per weekend (just works better for lodging and hunting) we filled up for the first weekend. I finally decided this past weekend to open up a second weekend on May 3. I know it is late in the season but hopefully we can get on some birds. Most of the info you need is in the linked thread but the important details are : NE of Brownwood, Fri afternoon thru Sun morning, lodging & food provided for $750 per person. Currently I have 1 person who said they are in and messages out to 2 others from the first hunt. If they commit we are full and I'm going to wait or day or 2 to hear back from them. With that said, if they can't make it I'll be looking for a couple of more. If anyone is interested or has additional questions, feel free to shoot me a pm.

Great idea, I have a small place on the Frio in McMullen County covered up and I'm not much of a turkey hunter. Trying to finish up the extra cabin in time - if not this year next for sure. Will help me with the feed bill. Donated a hunt to a good cause last year, hunter ended up with 11" beard.
